Would you like to have us implement a stat system?

If yes, please post what stats you would like to have implemented (Health, Strength, Mana, etc), or what you want to see from them. Such as how much you are able to lift based on a strength stat, how many spells you could know with a magic stat, whatever you want.

If no, please tell us why you are opposed to it. We are interested in your opinions and idea's, feel free to share them. =)

Okay, what stats would be appropriate?
-Strength
-Speed
-Endurance/Stamina/Durability
-Dexterity/Accuracy
-Magic Prowess

Perhaps each stat will have a range of 1 to 100. Will attempt to get back to you on more specific details, once my thinking cap is on.

and i would like these:

Intelligence: amount of spells one may learn
Wisdome: amount of mana one may carry around
Strenght: amount of weight one may lift
Speed: amount of leg strenght/ speed one may run at max
Endurance: amount of HP one may posses
Dextery: ability to wield powerfull weapons and tools

I'm not quite fond of stat systems, takes away some freedom in the Role Playing. But if one is implemented i won't mind.

Hmm.. the stat system seems to be pretty unpopular, cold everyone please stay a (personal oppinion blabla) better fitting way to decide on our characters phisical abilitis?

Technically speaking, the poll is a no. With 7 people with a Character, 3 more with app's, that is 10 who are likely to vote. At best it can go even, but with the majority of people who said no already having characters, I believe it is best to just not incorporate a stat system.

But, on the downside, I don't really know how we would be able to keep the power of everyone's certain rank spells similar without numbers.

Would people be opposed to having Health and Mana only? Technically it is still stats, and will have a system, but it still allows all the flexibility people want with their physical attributes, which from what I understand, is the main problem you all have with stat systems.
You could still use any spells you want, they would still be allowed to have effects such as paralysis, burning, etc. It would just make everyone's magic power a little more defined. Thoughts? Opinions?

Our goal is to not only dissuade or ban godmodding(ers), but to actually prevent it. Of course, people still could try to godmode with any system anyone tries to put in place, and will be banned from here if they purposely do so.

I am open to any suggestions on the idea. If you would like it completely no stats, please say so, and why you prefer that system. (Keep in mind that includes you will not have a mana limit)

Okay, There are only two stats, I would like to be incorporated, and that strength and speed. I believe that those two aspect should be trained by a character. But again, i don't mind, anything you do won't really bother me.

Please, no health and mana. I've seen enough to hate it, and then you'll have to start putting how much HP and MP each move will affect or cost. Eventually, it becomes more of a math calculation issue when planning for moves which deal the most damage. Math does not go well with games. I speak from experience. Of course, I'm not vetoing it (how dare I?!), but me and 'health and mana'-san don't have a very pleasant history.

Technically, why I prefer stat systems is because without one, someone will expect a Celestial Mage's punch to rank in strength with a Dragon Slayer's, just because they've undertaken the same missions. Or, a Doll magic user might want to vie with a Take Over mage for speed, and dodge most of their attacks, while expecting their magic to be very potent. The list could go on and on, but it boils down to this: Stat systems are more realistic. One can not be a master of all trades and jack of all... Shocked Uh, a jack of all trades and a master of all. There has to be a sacrifice. If I put all my training into speed, I ought to be deficient in something else, say strength or endurance. Besides, with a stat system, it would be easier to tell whether a move will KO an opponent outright, or cause minimal damage.

Um, Tibo, concerning strength and speed as the only stats...

Let's use me as an example. I'm kind of built like the Hulk, with an average speed and somewhat above-average strength (I hope Rolling Eyes ). Anyway, that actually says nothing about how good my aim is (which might sadly be a bit below impressive).

Ooooh, looks like I've said a lot of stuff...

With the health and mana, it may become a bit of a numbers game, but above all else, your creativity and how well you describe your actions will win you the fight, if you are close to the same strength as others. You can make your own spells, give them effects which will help tip the fight into your favor, etc. Pure damage is not always the best way to go.

If we have a larger stat system, it will be alot more of a numbers game. All that will be unique is spell difference. Hit chance, damage, health, mana, etc will all be decided by numbers, which is what most others appear to not want.



On a side note, dont worry about long posts. Mine are a bit longer generally. o.o

I think that a Number for Mana is highly needed, otherwise we will create monster D-rank mages which can spam hundreds of spells without getting exhausted, im speaking out of experience here, too.

1) I personally don't really like stat systems, they allways cause some problems and are hard to get balanced out, otherwise...
I FRIKING HATE when we cannot make our individual characters and all of us are expected to follow the same phisical conditions... i mean right now i play a 9 year old kid, but you couldn't say anything against it if i were to wield a giant claymore now, technically and stuff like that just shouldn't happen.... i mean.... kids with claymore? thats just wrong dewds....

2) Sites like Ultimate Shinobi have a AWESOME system. They use professions, you might want to check it out, but it doesn't really work well with a 'payment' based rp....

I think a stat system might be necessary, if we want to have a balanced system of RP, especially in a PvP setting. The issue with a 'Health and Mana' system is that, rather than stop godmoding, it will engender it. For instance, based on the fact that I have an eye on my health meter, most, if not all of my opponents attacks will unfortunately miss me.

In the end stat systems may be tedious, but if they're simple enough, they may be more of a guideline than an exercise in internet torture.

No matter what, even if we did do an Accuracy/Dodge thing, you would be required to rp an adequate, believable way of dodging whatever attack. If you are in a hallway with no doors and an attack the size of the hallway is thrown at you, you cannot dodge it. If the roll or whatever would show you as dodging it, you must have a way to actually do so, or it will hit. In this case, blocking the attack, or crashing through the wall to dodge the attack would be necessary. There would be other ways of course, but the writer must come up with a way.

If it is not believable, well, bottom line is you would have to edit your post so the attack lands, or get warned for godmodding, and banned if you continuously to do it.

i don't think so, i am against a health bar as well as a Hit/ dodge system.
It will take away rp fun and stuff like that should be up to the players, i trust each persons skill so they won't godmod and like stated before, any godmoder gets told so by myself and with continuos abuse be punished by me.

I would say Mana (which is necessary on ALL sites to avoid spamming), Strength, and speed if anything. Those are the only ones that would need a stat system, ever.

The OTHER site seems to work fine without one, and many sites in general don't have one implemented. I think it's largely unnecessary.
