Persona

Spoiler:

Name: Baojia Xin
Alias: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Birthdate: 24/12
Sexuality: Straight
Special Characteristics: Various scars upon his body that he prefers to cover with clothing. Also, he speaks in an accent that makes him difficult to understand for most people in Fiore.

Personality: Baojia has always been one to go with the flow. Every new experience is a treasure and hardships rarely bother him. It's how Yunlong taught him; life is something to be treasured, not bemoaned. The little things in life that frustrate Baojia are quickly forgotten when he remembers how lucky he is to still be alive to experience them. The good things in life that he is fortunate enough to have happen to him are made even more enjoyable by his outlook on life. "One can never be too grateful for the positive things life gives them." he always says.

Being completely new to Fiore, he has an almost childlike wonder about him as he enters new lands, has new experiences, and meets new people. In Fiore, everything is new to him so one will likely find him marveling at something or another most of the time. Everything from the flora and fauna to the people and buildings fascinates him to no end. Its his naivete of everything outside of Yuan that has gotten him into trouble, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the means of getting back out of trouble.

Baojia also has a strong sense of what is right. Another side effect to being brought up by one of the oldest and wisest dragons. Much of his knowledge of right and wrong in the world was bestowed upon the boy. Yunlong allowed his foster child to decide how he took the information on his own. The decision that Baojia made was that devoting your life to doing good will make your life richer and that those who don't deserve at least a second chance. However, they only deserve one. Squander that chance and Baojia will not hesitate to give them a hand into their next life.

Likes:
White Rice - The number one crop from his home country of Yuan. Most people try to get away from things that remind them of home when they run away, but he still loves those delicious grains.

Mountains - More specifically, hiking through the mountains. After Yunlong left and before he met Maochyr, it was the only way he could reach the clouds on days that weren't foggy.

New Things - Almost literally anything new. If he hasn't seen, met, tasted, heard, felt, smelled, experienced it before then he will assuredly enjoy doing so for the first time. Unless it's negative, of course.

Dislikes:
War - The entire reason he fled Yuan in the first place and the very thing that took his family from him. To fight your brothers over something as petty as ruling a set of land is brutish and unforgivable.

Oysters - It is literally the only kind of food he does not like. He dislikes the fact that he dislikes oysters it even more because a good chef should enjoy, or at least tolerate, all foods.

Transportation - As with all dragon slayers at one point, Baojia gets motion sickness from being on some form of transportation. Trains, cars, boats, wagons, airships, it all makes him lose his lunch.

Motivations:
To Find a New Life in Fiore - After escaping the war in Yuan, Baojia looks to start anew. He definitely feels bad about leaving. However he also firmly believes that magic should not be used for war, but for upholding peace. Being a dragon slayer, he figured it would be best for him to leave and start a new life instead of being used as a tool for war.

To Sample as Many Foreign Foods as Possible - One of the greatest pleasures in Baolia's life is food. Tasting exotic and foreign dishes is a treat no matter how it tastes. If he winds up not liking it, then at least it isn't out of ignorance.

To Become a Successful Chef - While he may be a wizard by trade -- and a damn rare one that that, being a dragon slayer -- Baojia's true passion is cooking. His dream of becoming a proper chef won't keep him from continuing his dragon slayer training, however. He has to keep his promise to Yunlong after all.

Fears:
Cranes - As a small child, Baojia was viciously attacked by a crane he had angered. He was only trying to pet it, but the large bird didn't understand and simply continued to peck and flap at him. Since that day he has been traumatized and terrified of cranes. Thankfully, there aren't many cranes in the western world.

Yuan-made Guns - The war in Yuan began to become less about honor and more about cold killing as guns were introduced to the armies. Baojia has lost so many friends and comrades to them and just the sound of a gun brings back horrid memories. Thankfully, not many of the more advanced guns in Fiore sound like the comparatively primitive ones used in Yuan, but they are similar enough that he is still fearful of them.

Failure - Baojia may not worry about hardships in life, but one thing he is terrified of is failure. Not in trivial things like contests and jobs, but failure in life. Failure to make something of himself. Failure to uphold his promise to Yunlong. He is so afraid of it that he works himself to the point of passing out when training by himself. But only by himself. He values his image enough that he avoids showing this side of him to anyone.

General Appearance

Height: 6' 1''
Weight: 182 lbs
Hair: Shaggy brown hair
Eyes: Green
Skin Tone: Pale, a characteristic of people from Yuan
Other: Baojia almost always has some kind of hat on his head. They are all hats from Yuan, of course.
Appearance: Baojia stands tall and firm like a man trained by a dragon would. Though he carries himself like the holder of vast power, his face betrays it. Eyes almost always wide and taking in new sights and mouth usually spread broad in a content smile, his long face seems to not belong on the toned and trained body he possesses. Framing his face is a head of shaggy hair that pokes out of the bottom of his hat and a stubbly beard with a thicker portion at the chin. Baojia wants to grow a full beard like his deceased father had, but he isn't quite old enough yet to grow it in thick enough.

The colors Baojia loves to wear are green and brown. Brown pants, green shirts, green robes, almost every piece of clothing he owns is green or brown. It is all made of either silk or cotton and is all from Yuan. Baggy pants that he tucks into his boots and flowing robes that he wears over tight-fitting shirts with high collars. He'll likely never wear any sort of western garb as he isn't quite used to how all the clothing fits yet. The pants are too tight and the shirts are too loose. It's like the opposite of what he's used to.

Guild

Guild: Lamia Scale
Tattoo: A green crest on his left shoulder.
Rank: D

Magic

Primary Magic: Cloud Dragon Slayer Magic
Secondary Magic: (Must be filled in later. Magic you bought at the store goes here)
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description: A lost magic that was created with the purpose of slaying dragons. The key to the magic is that it utilizes the very same magic used by the dragons it targets. These days, dragon slayer magic is not used for slaying dragons. At least not often, anyway. Since the dragons of the world began to disappear either from falling to dragon slayers or by simply leaving for a different plane, the usage of dragon slayer magic has lessened considerably. These days, dragon slayers usually learn their magic from one of the few dragons left in Earth Land and are taught to use it for purposes other than the one it was invented for.

Baojia learned his magic from the Cloud Dragon Yunlong from an early age. Cloud dragon slayer magic is similar to water dragon slayer magic in that the element it controls is a form of water. However, instead of controlling and producing large quantities of water, Baojia weaves clouds, mist, and fog. Also, while it is a water magic, it is practiced as if it were a sky magic even though wind is not a factor. Thanks to the martial origins of Yuan, he does this while also in close combat with his Ba Gua fighting style.

One other thing cloud dragon slayer magic can do is heal and provide magical enhancements to the user and others.

Strengths: Being water magic that mostly behaves like sky magic, cloud magic is very unpredictable mainly because a lot of people can't quite pinpoint what exactly it is. It is also extremely versatile in that it can be used offensively, but it can also heal and buff. Since mist and fog are just grounded clouds, it is great for obstructing the opponent's visibility. Since all it is is thousands of tiny floating droplets of water, the offensive potential is great if it is all gathered in one place and even deadly at greater masteries. After all, water can cut through even metal at high enough pressures. Imagine being surrounded by thousands of miniscule drops of water that can turn into deadly blades at any moment and not even knowing it.

Weaknesses: The things that make cloud magic strong are also its greatest weaknesses. It is, by no means, a solid element. It is the "sand" for water. Where sand has far less defensive qualities than rock, cloud is just as bad compared to water which doesn't have much physical defense in the first place. Also, controlling large amounts of mist is difficult and not to be attempted until later masteries of the magic. Finally, since it is water, it conducts electricity very well. An entire cloud can be electrocuted, along with everyone inside, by a decent enough lightning mage and even amplify the electricity circulating through the mist.

Exceed

Name: Maochyr
Rank: D
Gender: Male
Height and Weight: 2' 3'' / 32 lbs
Description:

Since Maochyr is still very young, he tends to be very excitable and naive. Breaking the usual tradition of the exceed being the voice of reason and conscience for the dragon slayer, Maochyr is usually the one to rush into a fight and get the both of them in trouble. He thinks himself bigger and stronger than he really is. Baojia usually has to be the one to hold his exceed back and explains things to him. Unfortunately, Baojia is very naive of Fiore himself. Therefore, both tend to be completely clueless while roaming the land.

Physical Description:
Spoiler:

Abilities:
- Aera Magic
- Maochyr is a novice at Ba Gua under Baojia's tutelage. He wouldn't really be able fight anyone, though he will more than likely try.

Extra

History: Baojia was born on a small rice farm in the mountains of Yuan, a large yet divided nation far east of Earth Land. The nation had been going through a three-sided civil war between armies led by the descendants of the nation's founder, Guo Yuan. The Xin family farm happened to reside in the Shu Yuan territory. Baojia led a simple life with his mother and three siblings with his father fighting in the war as was mandatory for all men over the age of fifteen. That was until the entire farm was burned down by invading Fa Yuan soldiers when he was only five years old. The rice paddies were trampled and his mother and siblings were killed. Baojia was only able to get away because he was so small and unnoticeable as his mother forced him to run away.

The boy ran into the night before being stopped by a group of Fa Yuan soldiers. Before they could be bothered to kill or kidnap him, however, the soldiers were swiftly dispatched by what looked to be a blur. As the soldiers fell dead, blood staining the grass and rocks, the source of the blur appeared before young Baojia. It was an old man. Impossibly old for how swiftly he was moving. The man spoke in a gruff voice asking if he feared him. Baojia shook his head, though his tears betrayed him. The man extended a hand toward him and he winced, assuming the worst. His fears did not manifest, however, as he found the old man knelt before him patting his head after opening his eyes.

The man explained that it was okay to cry. Baojia immediately began bawling and the man picked him up. He was asked if he had parents, he responded that his mother was killed, but his father was a soldier. After being asked who his father was, he told him. The old man frowned. It was as if he knew what had happened to him and it wasn't good. The man picked up young Baojia and took him to a spot in the mountains where he then told him not to run. The man stepped back and closed his eyes. The mist and clouds that surrounded the mountain were drawn around him, swirling and growing. The mass of clouds quickly became the size of a palace and then dispersed, revealing a gigantic green serpentine dragon. His mane and portions of his body were flowing clouds and his eyes seethed with a mysterious mist.

It was then that the dragon revealed his name as Yunlong, the only cloud dragon left on Earth Land. He also explained that he was among the oldest and wisest fo the dragons left in the boy's plane of existence. Baojia could only stare bewildered at the creature. What its booming voice said was not lost on him, but he could not muster the words to respond. The dragon then went on to reveal that he knew where the boy's father was. Baojia immediately asked the ancient being to take him to him. Reluctantly, Yunlong lowered his tail to allow the boy to climb atop him. Once Baojia was securely sitting on the dragon, the two flew towards Shu City.

The dragon lowered into Shu City disguised as a low hanging cloud and dropped the boy off in front of a grave at the Soldier's Graveyard. Upon it read Shao Xin. His father's name. Young Baojia could not believe his father was dead. The dragon turned back into its human form and attempted to comfort the boy. He explained that he was watching the battle his father died in and that he fought valiantly. Baojia was told by Yunlong to be proud of him and to grieve, but never forget.

It was then that the dragon offered to raise the boy himself. Baojia had no other family so he accepted. Several years passed since that day. In those years he taught the boy his magic. The dragon slayer magic of clouds, mist, and fog. Along with the magic he was also taught the Ba Gua fighting style that revolved around the eight trigrams. Baojia was brought up to hate the war as Yunlong did. He was often ask why he didn't just end it himself, but Yunlong would just respond that he had no business solving the problems of petty children.

Baojia, one day, took it upon himself to join the army at the age of sixteen. He felt that he could make a difference. However, as soon as the Shu Yuan army found out a dragon slayer was entering their ranks, Shu Yuan himself saw it as a way to win the war. The youth was called to meet the ruler of the province. He stood before him and demonstrated his magic. Every sell he showed, the king smiled wider and wider. Baojia was given proper living quarters and an officer title in exchange for his loyalty. Unfortunately, this meant being away from Yunlong.

Even more unfortunate was what happened when Shun Yuan learned that he was not as skilled as he assumed him to be initially. When asked how he can learn to improve his magic, Baojia lied and said that he did not know, attempting to hide the location of Yunlong. Baojia continued to fight for Shu Yuan against Fa Yuan and Guon Yuan, but the king grew ever more impatient with him. His final day in the army was spent in an audience with the king that devolved into a fight as Shu attempted to assassinate the young man for wasting his time over the past three years. Baojia was able to fight off the retainers, but the king proved to be far too much for him to handle. The youth fled to the courtyard where he let out a mighty Roar of the Cloud Dragon. Yunlong's sensitive ears were able to hear it and he flew at full speed to aid his foster son. Yunlong's existence was revealed on that day as he swooped in and picked up his protege.

Baojia explained what he had been doing the past three years and apologized over and over again for not listening to his master. He would have never joined the army. He finally had learned that war is not about glory, but petty squabbles between nobles. Yunlong was glad that his son had finally learned the lesson he tried to teach him years ago, but the fact that he showed himself to humans meant that he could not stay in Yuan any longer. The great dragon began to sxplain to Baojia that he should move west to Fiore. He explained that it was a peaceful country and that he would do well there as a guild wizard. As long as Baojia stayed in Yuan, someone was going to try and get their hands on his power.

The next morning, Baojia awoke excited about the trip he was going to take with his master. However, Yunlong was nowhere to be found. The dragon slayer looked everywhere, but did not find a single trace of him. All that was left was a note telling him to head west and a large egg. Wiping the tears from his cheeks, he hefted the egg up and departed.

A year passed on Baojia's trek. He had met many people and seen many new sights on his travels. It was all so exciting to him. He was slowed down so much -- as the trip would have only taken a year at most -- thanks to the egg he carried. Miraculously, the egg began to crack one day. As it hatched, light exploded from the egg and inside hovered a gray winged kitten. Naturally, Baojia named it Maochyr meaning "winged cat" in his tongue. The kitten immediately knew how to speak and became his tutor in the languages of the western world. By the time he arrived in Fiore half a year later, he was able to speak the language well enough that most citizens could understand him.

As he scoured the country for a guild to join, Baojia found one that jumped out at him. Lamia Scale. The crest sort of reminded him of Yunlong. When he revealed to the guild master that he was a dragon slayer and proved it with his exceed (he still doesn't really understand the exceed thing) and magic, he was allowed in immediately.

Now Baojia hopes to start a new life. Away fromt he war and the poverty and the cruelty. He understands that there are still the evils of the dark guilds to contend with, but it is nothing compared to the horrors of all out war.

Umm it wouldn't be a big deal if he did wear the armor you know? As long as it didn't have any effects that is...

The app looks great, Approved 2/2

Yeah the armor can only block non magical weapons and such. You would have to buy that if he had any special effects.

Oh. Sorry I was assuming this was similar to the other site where casters can't have armor. Well, then. I do believe I'll make his armor later on after magic is dealt with. Smile
